Rob Owens, EdD, LCMHCA has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Rob is currently an Adjunct Instructor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Bryan School of Business and Economics. Rob also works as a Better Care Coach at BetterUp. At Valor Performance, Inc. he is employed as a Master Coach and was formerly an Elite Performance Coach. Rob is a member of the Mental Health Registry and Sport Psychology Registry for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. In addition, he has held various positions at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, including Faculty Development/Instructional Design/Lecturer at the Bryan School of Business and Economics, and Adjunct Professor of Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Western States. Rob has also worked as a Group Exercise Instructor at ClubFitness Greensboro, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at Campbell University, and as a Faculty Development Specialist and Adjunct Instructor of Exercise Physiology at Winston-Salem State University. Earlier in his career, he served as an Instructional Technology Specialist and Instructional Technology Consultant at UNC Greensboro.
Rob Owens, EdD, LCMHCA has an extensive education history. In 1989, they received their Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Temple University. Rob then pursued further studies and obtained a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling/Counselor from North Carolina State University between 2017 and 2021.
In addition to their Master's degree, Rob Owens holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree. Rob completed their EdD in Kinesiology (formerly Exercise and Sport Science) at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 2007 to 2011. Prior to their doctoral studies, they also earned a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1995.
Rob Owens has demonstrated a commitment to professional development by obtaining various certifications. Rob became a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology in June 2021. Additionally, he gained certification as a Community Mediator from the Cumberland County Dispute Resolution Center Inc. in the same month and year. Rob also acquired a license as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor from the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors in August 2023.
In March 2021, Rob Owens was recognized as a Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator - Candidate by the National Board of Forensic Evaluators, Inc. Furthermore, he became a Certified First Responder Counselor Associate through the Academy Hour in September 2021. Lastly, in May 2010, they obtained a certification as a Health and Wellness Coach from Real Balance Global Wellness Services, Inc.
