Shameema Yousuf is an experienced practitioner psychologist and clinical mental health therapist specializing in the intersection of performance, mental health, and culture in sports and corporate industries. Shameema founded Empower2Perform in 2011, where they support Olympic, NGB, and Academy programs in sport. Shameema has also held various roles, including being the Head of Publications and Communications on the Executive Board of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology since 2022. Additionally, they have worked as a Practitioner Psychologist for the Premier League and Motorsport UK, and has served as a consultant for organizations such as BelievePerform, PlanetK2, and the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee. In previous years, Shameema was the Sport Psychologist Lead for the Women's and Girls pathway at Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. Shameema has also worked as a Master Coach for Valor Performance, Inc. and as a Clinical Supervisor for Barnardo's. Shameema is a scholar, published author, and keynote speaker dedicated to bringing sustained impactful change through education.
Shameema Yousuf has a Master of Education (EdM) degree in Counselling, specializing in Applied Sport and Performance Psychology from Boston University. Shameema also holds an MSc degree from Brunel University London and a BSc Joint Hons degree from City, University of London. Shameema is a registered Practitioner Psychologist in Sport Psychology with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Additionally, they are a registered Counsellor/Therapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). Shameema has obtained certifications including membership in the International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP), a membership in the American Psychological Association (APA), and membership in the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Shameema is also a member of the Federation of European Psychologists’ Association (FEPSAC).
