Carolyn (Carrie) Higgins has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Carolyn (Carrie) currently serves as the Program Director of the Tobacco Education & Prevention Coalition at Valparaiso University. Prior to this, they worked as a Lead Investigation Specialist at Guidant Global, where they handled incoming and outgoing calls related to COVID-19.

Carolyn also has a strong background in education, particularly in communication. Carolyn (Carrie) worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Communication & Creative Arts at Purdue University Northwest from 2016 to 2020, where they also served as a Concurrent Enrollment Program Communication Faculty Liaison. Before that, they were a Continuing Lecturer of Communication (Full Time) at Purdue University Northwest from 2003 to 2016.

Additionally, Carolyn has experience in advising and service leadership. Carolyn (Carrie) served as a Faculty Advisor for the PNW Circle K Club from 2010 to 2020, guiding students in their service, leadership, and fellowship efforts. Carolyn (Carrie) also worked as the Wellness Coordinator at Valparaiso Community Schools from 1993 to 2003, creating and coordinating wellness and health promotion programs for employees.

Carolyn's earliest work experience includes being a Continuing Lecturer (Part-Time) at Purdue University North Central from 1998 to 2002, and serving as the Wellness Director at Valparaiso University from 1989 to 1993, where they coordinated campus-wide wellness events and programs.

Carolyn (Carrie) Higgins completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Education - Instructional Design from Purdue University Northwest between 1986 and 1988. Prior to that, they received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Purdue University between 1981 and 1985, with a focus on Health Education, Communication, Psychology, and Sociology. In addition to their degrees, they obtained certifications in "Leading Virtual Meetings" from LinkedIn in 2020 and as a "Certified Health Education Specialist" from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc in 1990.
