We started Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in a yellow truck on the streets of NYC in 2008 with a mission to make good ice cream that makes you feel good.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring part time Retail Shift Leads, based out of our Dallas Area stores. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to work closely with the growing team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of major growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is experienced in food service operations, driven, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).
The Retail Shift Leads will report directly to the General Manager of their assigned stores and will supervise their assigned shifts. The Shift Lead is in charge of ensuring that their shift runs smoothly and customer satisfaction remains high.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Anchors the team through all operational duties based on the volume of the shift
- Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers
- Communicates necessary information to the General Manager
- Keeps tabs on the team morale to ensure team is staying positive and productive
- Provide guidance, training, and coaching to new and existing team members
- Delivers excellent customer service and steps in to assist team members on shift
- Executes store operations during scheduled shifts including organizing opening and closing duties as assigned, as well as submits necessary reports
- Deeply understands the Van Leeuwen menu and provides quality product to our customers
- Follows all policies and procedures and ensures all employees on shift adhere to standards
- Complete inventory, verify order accuracy, and communicate any discrepancies to store leadership
REQUIREMENTS
- 1 to 2 years of leadership experience in food service (quick service a plus)
- ServeSafe Food Protection Manager Certification or equivalent ANSI-CFP approved certification
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to train and coach team members
- Ability to multitask
