Chair at Van Oord

N.W. Hoek is the current Chair at Van Oord. Prior to this, they were a Senior project manager, specialist coastal and marine systems at ARCADIS from August 2011 to August 2013. There, they coordinated international projects on integrated management of coastal and marine systems and developed the expert group Integrated Coastal Solutions. From June 2013 to December 2014, they were the owner and advisor of KustConsult where they provided expert knowledge, hands-on support, and strategic advice for coordination of large and complex projects, coordination and writing of research proposals, spatial planning and management of coastal and marine ecosystems, coastal adaptation measures to deal with the effects of climate change, and design and control of ecological monitoring programs to determine the effects of MPA's, fisheries, and offshore wind farms. Before that, they were a Senior project manager, specialist marine ecosystems / spatial planning at IMARES from February 2006 to August 2011. And before that, they were a Project leader, specialist marine ecosystems and fisheries at Netherlands Institute for Fisheries Research (RIVO) from February 2004 to February 2006.

N.W. Hoek has a PhD in Civiele techniek (Civil engineering) from Delft University of Technology, an MSc in Marine Biology from University of Groningen, and a VWO from RSG Wiringherlant.
