Marcia Sparling

Dr. Sparling is the Chief Medical Information Officer and Medical Director for Surgical Specialties at Vancouver Clinic. She received her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She was an intern at Saint Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, B.C. and a resident in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, MN, where she also completed a fellowship in Rheumatology.

Dr. Sparling is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a member of the American College of Rheumatology. She maintains a limited practice in Rheumatology, and focuses on the application of system improvement to the delivery of medical care, with a special interest in the application of digital tools to improve care processes and patient outcomes.

In her spare time, she enjoys any excuse to be outdoors, and works with her husband to oversee a global collection of trees, and two hives of bees.
