Rob Whelan

Rob Whelan has extensive experience in the field of financial crime and fraud risk management. Rob most recently served as the Financial Crime Director & MLRO at Vanquis Bank starting in 2021. Prior to that, they held various roles at Standard Chartered Bank, including Executive Director, Head of FCC UK & Nominated Officer, Executive Director, Head of FCC Controls, Europe, and Director, FCC Risk Assessment. Rob also worked at HSBC as a Senior Manager, FCC Central Support and at Barclays Corporate as a Vice President, Fraud Strategy & Prevention and in various other fraud risk management positions. Throughout their career, Rob has demonstrated expertise in developing risk assessment methodologies, implementing control frameworks, and conducting fraud investigations.

Rob Whelan attended the University of Central Lancashire from 2004 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Police & Criminal Investigation.
