Emma Ackroyd's work experience includes various roles and positions in the field of internal audit and risk management.

From April 2023 onwards, they worked as the Head of Group Internal Audit, Finance, and Prudential Risk at Vanquis Banking Group.

Prior to that, from January 2018 to April 2023, Emma held the position of Head of Audit-Prudential and Financial Risk at Skipton Building Society. In this role, they led a team responsible for delivering internal audits related to treasury, capital, credit risk, regulatory reporting, stress testing, climate risk, and core financial control.

From January 2017 to January 2018, Emma served as the Head of Audit - Operational and Conduct Risk at Skipton Building Society. Emma Ackroyd managed a team focusing on remuneration, FCA regulatory reporting, compliance, mortgage underwriting, savings, financial advice, vulnerable customers, and treating customers fairly regulation.

In addition, Emma has experience working as a Market Risk Project Manager from March 2016 to December 2016, and as an Internal Audit Manager - Prudential and Financial Risk from January 2011 to January 2014, where they were responsible for leading technically complex reviews and managing a small number of audit assignments.

Emma's career started as an Internal Auditor/Senior Auditor at Skipton Building Society in July 2004, where they gained experience in the field before progressing to more senior roles.

Emma Ackroyd studied at Leeds Beckett University from 2000 to 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance. In addition, they have certifications as an Association of Corporate Treasurers (AMCT), Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). Emma Ackroyd also received training in Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England.
