John Crannell-Ash has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. John started their career as a Sales Associate at Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. in 2009. After that, they worked as an Engineer at ICF International, where they designed and programmed an embedded motor control system for an airplane.

In 2015, John joined Entrust Datacard as a Firmware Engineer. John worked as a Firmware Engineer I from May 2015 to April 2016 and then moved on to the role of Firmware Engineer II from May 2016 to July 2017. During this time, they played a key role in product architecture, designed and developed low-level motor control, and managed supplies RFID tag inventory.

Following their time at Entrust Datacard, John joined Construction Robotics in July 2017 as a Control Engineer. John worked on the SAM100 brick-laying robot and used LabView for controlling Galil motor controllers and cameras. John also focused on data aggregation and sensor fusion for precision motor control.

Most recently, John worked at Vanteon Corporation as a Principal Firmware Engineer starting from January 2019. In this role, they focused on Linux kernel development for complex software-defined radios and designed and implemented a firmware upgrade system for a vehicle CAN system. John also gained proficiency in Vector CANalyzer software and completed the full bring-up of PS and PL (FPGA) of an Arty Z7-20.

Throughout their career, John has demonstrated a strong technical expertise in firmware engineering, motor control, and embedded systems. John has also showcased their ability to lead projects, adapt to changing requirements, and effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and managers.

John Crannell-Ash completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2009 to 2013. John then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Engineering from the same university from 2013 to 2015.
