Bård Solvang

Senior Principal Petroleum Engineer at Vår Energi

Bård Solvang's work experience began in 2006 as a summer intern at Statoil, where they contributed to the drafting of a textbook on oil and gas resource development. In 2007, they interned at FMC Technologies, working on numerical modeling of transient multiphase pipe flow. From 2008 to 2012, Solvang obtained their Master's degree at SINTEF. Bård then joined Weatherford Petroleum Consultants AS in 2012 as a Senior Production Engineer, working until 2014. Solvang then worked as an Engineer in Production Technology at Statoil from 2013 to 2014 as a consultant. In 2014, Solvang founded Solvang PetroConsult AS, where they served as the Owner and Managing Director. Since 2015, Solvang has been with Vår Energi, initially as a Senior Petroleum Engineer, then as a Petroleum Engineering Lead, and currently as a Senior Principal Petroleum Engineer. In this role, they oversee petroleum engineering for Vår Energi's Goliat asset, including start-up planning and execution, production optimization, well and pipeline modeling, and mentorship of graduate engineers.

Bård Solvang pursued their education from 2002 to 2008 at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) where they obtained a MSc (Siv. Ing.) degree. Bård'sfield of study during this period was engineering fluid mechanics. In 2005, Bård Solvang had the opportunity to engage in a student exchange program at The University of Western Australia, specifically focusing on fluid mechanics. This exchange program lasted until 2006.
