Tonje Evanger

Tonje Evanger has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Tonje is currently working at Variant, where they hold the position of Global CDO and Variant Group Strategist. Tonje is responsible for the company's professional expertise, strategy, personnel, and results. Tonje is also a Board Member at Variant Trondheim, Oslo, and Bergen.

In 2018, Tonje co-founded Variant and served as the company's CDO and Strategy Director. Tonje played a crucial role in developing the company's inclusive values and its mission to transform working life. Tonje held responsibilities for professional expertise, business strategy, personnel, and results.

Before their time at Variant, Tonje worked at Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU) as an Assistant Professor from November 2020 onwards. From 2019, they were a Board Member at Ren Røros Frontal as, and from 2017 to 2019, they held a similar role at Fornybarklyngen.

Tonje's earlier experiences include working at Powel AS, where they held the positions of Executive Vice President, CDO, Head of Design, and Interaction/Product Designer. Tonje was responsible for building digital solutions for the energy market and had roles in areas such as business development, design, and product management. Tonje also co-founded and served as a Board Member for IxDA Trondheim, an organization related to interaction design.

Tonje's engagements also include being a Board Member at Verdens Barn, avd. Sør-Trøndelag, and at Trondheim Developer Conference, where they played a role in the program committee and board for over four years. Tonje was involved in building a technology conference with over 700 participants, catering to a diverse audience.

Tonje began their career as a Product Designer at BD Tonje Evanger in 2005. Tonje also served as a program committee member at Technoport from June 2016 to March 2017.

Tonje Evanger has a diverse education history. From 2018 to 2019, they pursued an Executive Master of Technology and Innovation Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). In 2019, they attended the University of Cambridge, focusing on Technology Intelligence, Ecosystems, and Strategy. The same year, at Aarhus University, they studied Entrepreneurial Venturing, Data Visualization, and Storytelling. In the past, Tonje also attended OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University from 2005 to 2008, where they focused on Product Design. Tonje attended the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 2002 to 2004, studying Business Administration, and briefly attended BI Norwegian Business School in 2001 for Business Administration. In 2000, they briefly studied at the University of Oslo (UiO). Prior to their university studies, Tonje obtained a University Admission Certification in the Programme Area for Natural Science and Mathematics Studies from Heimdal vgs.
