James F. Cummings

James F. Cummings is the current Chief Medical Officer at Vaxart. James has extensive experience in government and public health, having served as President of ICON Government and Public Health Solutions and as Director of Global Emerging Infections Surveillance and Response Systems (GEIS). Cummings began their career as a clinical researcher, serving as Chief of the Clinical Trials Center at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research from 2007 to 2009. James has been with Vaxart since 2018, first as President and then as Chief Medical Officer.

James F. Cummings studied biology and pre-med at the University of Scranton before attending Georgetown University School of Medicine to earn their Doctor of Medicine (MD).

James F. Cummings reports to Andrei Floroiu, CEO & Director. and Shaily Jaini Garg - SVP, Clinical Development & Project Management reports to James F. Cummings. They work with Rajesh Kapoor - SVP, Quality, Edward B. Berg - SVP & General Counsel, and Sean Tucker - SVP & Chief Scientific Officer.
