Ajay Pillai

Ajay Pillai, MD, FACC, FHRS, currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Cardiac Electrophysiology at VCU Health, starting in August 2023. Prior to this position, Ajay completed a fellowship in Electrophysiology at VCU Health from July 2018 to June 2023, where recognition included the Santosh Padala MD Award for Clinical Investigation. Ajay also engaged in Cardiovascular Disease fellowship, earning the Ohran Muhren Award for Outstanding Teaching Fellow, and served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. At Augusta University Health, from July 2017 to June 2018, Ajay was the Chief Medical Resident, overseeing various medical education and clinical initiatives. Additional experience includes a residency in Internal Medicine and a role as a Clinical Research Analyst at LENSAR Inc., focusing on clinical trials and research. Ajay holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of West Georgia. Awards include GME Resident of the Year and membership in Alpha Omega Alpha.
