Talent Acquisition Manager

Operations · Contract · MA, United States

Job description

About VEIR Giving everyone in the world access to clean, reliable, affordable energy will require substantial expansion of global electricity transmission networks. VEIR is developing a new generation of High Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based transmission lines, enabling long distance, reliable, low loss, cost–effective power transfer in far smaller right–of–ways. VEIR’s innovations overcome the main barriers to transmission expansion, enabling the world to access the very lowest cost renewable power.

The Role  VEIR is seeking a Talent Acquisition Manager to lead all aspects of talent acquisition and play a key role in building an exceptional team at VEIR, while also developing the processes and systems to drive effective and inclusive hiring practices. This is an incredible opportunity to have a tremendous impact on a dynamic, growing startup.

The ideal candidate for this role is a driven, self-motivated, relationship-focused builder who can execute against recruiting goals while also designing and improving the systems that support hiring and onboarding. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to make the shift from a purely recruiting role into a talent acquisition leadership role, or for someone looking to expand their People & Culture experience beyond recruiting.

This role will report to the Head of People & Culture and will be based at VEIR’s headquarters in Woburn, MA.

In the first 3 months you will:

  • Develop strong working relationships across the organization and quickly build trust and credibility with our hiring managers and entire team
  • Become an expert on all of our recruiting systems and processes, surfacing areas for improvement
  • Understand and refine VEIR’s employer value proposition, enabling us to find and attract mission-driven candidates who can thrive in a startup environment
  • Manage 5-10 searches, leveraging external resources as needed to make great hires as efficiently as possible

In your first 6 months you will:

  • In collaboration with the Head of People & Culture, develop a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy, identifying and implementing the processes and systems to enable it
  • Build deep and effective candidate pipelines through external relationship building and partnership development (such as career sites, career fairs, search firms, and co-op programs)
  • Become a trusted and valuable partner to hiring managers, providing guidance and support to help them make excellent hires
  • Own all aspects of talent acquisition at VEIR, ensuring that we hire the best possible candidates to help us drive towards our ambitious goals

By the end of your first year you will have:

  • Designed and implemented all of the components of a strong recruiting engine at VEIR that enables us to hire top talent with efficiency and inclusivity
  • Developed and implemented processes and initiatives to enhance the candidate and new hire onboarding/orientation experience
  • Designed and rolled out initiatives to improve the overall hiring process at VEIR, including interview training and other skills-building initiatives for current staff
  • Grown the VEIR team by about 50%, effectively positioning us for future success

To be successful in this role:

  • You are driven by results - you gauge your success in measurable positive impact (not in how much you check off the to do list) and know how to ruthlessly prioritize
  • You are exceptional at networking and relationship building
  • You are committed to equity and inclusion, and have demonstrated experience building, managing, and engaging diverse pipelines of talent
  • You love using data to inform decisions and drive accountability
  • You have a bias towards action and are not afraid to test unproven ideas to surface great outcomes
  • You are known for your ability to foster trust, and you know how to coach and enable other leaders to do the same
  • You know how to match vision with execution; you have experience thinking big as well as demonstrated success executing with strong attention to detail

Additionally, you have:

  • A strong foundation of experience in full-cycle recruiting, from sourcing through onboarding
  • Proven success hiring in a startup environment across all functions and levels, ideally for a hardware company
  • Experience building new systems and processes to enable efficient and high quality talent acquisition
  • Ability to quickly learn and leverage HRIS platforms (currently we use Lever, Culture Amp, TriNet PEO)
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills across all levels of staff and with external stakeholders
