Dan Sorensen

Dan Sorensen has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Dan is currently the Senior Director of Public Relations and Social Media at Velo3D, a position they have held since September 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Startup Advisor in AI, spatial computing, fintech, SaaS, and Web3 industries.

From September 2017 to September 2021, Dan served as the Director of Marketing and Communications at Storj, where they played a pivotal role in shaping the company's narrative to resonate with developers and object storage customers. Dan handled various responsibilities including content management, public relations, crisis communications, social media, marketing emails, and executive thought leadership.

Before Storj, Dan worked as an Account Director at Method Communications from October 2014 to September 2017. Dan provided PR and communications strategies to enterprise clients in sectors such as cybersecurity, datacenter, storage, and developer tools. Some notable clients included Bessemer Venture Partners, Docker, Hortonworks, New Relic, Nutanix (IPO), Pluralsight, RocketLab, and Qualtrics.

From May 2011 to September 2014, Dan held the role of Communications Manager, Content at Fusion-io, where they created content about the company's solutions, oversaw social media efforts, and secured media coverage for industry trends and innovations.

Dan's early career includes experience as a PR Account Manager at The Summit Group from February 2008 to April 2011. Their responsibilities involved managing multiple clients concurrently, writing press releases, pitching media, executing PR and social media campaigns, and conducting email marketing activities. Clients they worked with included Wal-Mart, IASIS Healthcare, Subway, 222 Main, The Salt Lake City Marathon, EnergySolutions, and various political campaigns.

Dan Sorensen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications with a focus on Public Relations from the University of Utah. Dan attended the university from 2004 to 2008.
