Jo Douglas-Harris

Jo Douglas-Harris has a diverse range of work experience. Jo started their career as a Scientist Placement Student at Procter & Gamble in 2011, where they managed a project involving method development and conducted consumer research. Jo also took on responsibility for laboratory management.

Jo then worked as an Education Officer at The Smallpeice Trust from 2016 to 2017. Following that, they served as a Headstart Supervisor at EDT (The Engineering Development Trust) from 2014 to 2016.

In 2017, Jo joined British Sugar as a Process Scientist, where they successfully linked an internal project team to an external contact, resulting in significant cost savings for the company. Jo also managed a team of lab analysts.

Since 2019, Jo has been working at Venator Materials Plc. Jo started as a Product and Applications Scientist, where they built strong working relationships with different departments and conducted experimental programs for plant trial strategies. Jo then became the Inks Product & Applications Manager, responsible for developing inks products and applications, managing a team, and exceeding customer expectations. Currently, Jo holds the position of Global Surface Coatings Product & Applications Manager, where they continue to lead strategic projects and deliver customer-focused products.

Jo Douglas-Harris has a strong education background in chemical engineering and chemistry. From 2013 to 2017, they pursued a PhD sponsored by Unilever at the University of Bath, specializing in Chemical Engineering. Prior to that, they completed their Master's degree in Chemistry at The University of Edinburgh from 2008 to 2013.

In addition to their formal education, Jo has obtained certifications that enhance their expertise. In March 2023, they became a Member Chartered Chemist of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Jo also obtained a certification as a STEM Ambassador, engaging in 15 hours of activities related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the academic year 2022/2023, from STEM Learning.
