Emma Longland

Emma Longland is a Partner and UK and European Patent Attorney at Venner Shipley LLP, with a focus on providing patent support to universities, start-ups, spin-outs, pharmaceutical companies, venture capitalists, and overseas associates. With extensive experience in patent drafting, filing, prosecution, and EPO oppositions and appeals, Emma specializes in IP strategy advice for early-stage companies and their investors. Previously, Emma held various roles at HGF Limited, Patent Boutique LLP, Avidity IP, and HLBBshaw, gaining expertise in patent prosecution and EPO opposition in the life sciences sector, particularly concerning CRISPR inventions. Emma completed a PhD in Pathology, Oncology, and Virology at the University of Cambridge, following a BA and M.Sci in Natural Sciences with a specialization in Biochemistry.
