Main Function & Scope

The Market analysis Team Leads the Market analysis area, focusing on fundamental drivers of market direction and direction of future market, support on hedging strategy based on market views, Lead the development of power BI and Risk tools (up to implementation) for the EM team and Support across the EM team and wider business with market knowledge.

The purpose of this role will be to:

  • Maintain different tools, such as the hedging tracker and the commercial management dashboard.
  • Monitor and analyse energy markets; build new tools to facilitate markets follow-up for the Energy Team and the rest of the company.
  • Support other teams inside EM, particularly the Origination team and Portfolio Management team with analysis and centralized information about the sites, contracts and market information.
  • Review and monitor current and future positioning of the Company regarding value at risk exposure opportunity and mitigation in line with business strategy. Incorporate new contracts and sites to keep
  • Increase the general knowledge about Power markets in different countries and regulation around them.

  • Have a global overview about the business in different countries. Understand where the revenues come from and the main characteristics of the commercial set up.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Reporting tools maintenance and development.
  • Maintain the current tools in Power BI to back up the whole EM team.
  • Maintain the data updated for the different tools.
  • Build and develop new tools oriented to monitor Energy Market activity and Power/commodities markets.
  • Development of quantitative models and pricing tools to support all commercial, energy risk management, and economic-financial valuation endeavours.

2.Energy Markets and Insights

  • Build internal knowledge and perspective on energy markets across the company’s geographies and translate it to clear insight to inform decision making.

  • Input to the strategic journey with stronger market insight, including current and potential new geographies.

  • Provide an understanding of third party price scenarios across geographies, the value drivers and assumptions behind them, differences between different advisors and the implications to Ventient’s financials and risk management

  • Support analysis of traded positions, forward markets, and underlying fundamentals through ownership of monitoring market data dashboards

  • Build internal knowledge on power markets in all the countries the company is present.

  • Research alternative business models (e.g., co-location, hydrogen, batteries) and their potential for Ventient’s business

  • Regulation assessment and effects on the portfolio

3.Energy management and optimisation of secondary revenues streams

  • Support commercial team regarding Route to Market renewals and new requirements (including PPA tenders) to balance return-risk profile of current and new assets
  • Review and monitor current and future positioning of the Company relating to value at risk exposure opportunity and mitigation in line with business strategy
  • Value at risk - carry out and analyse current and potential sources of energy revenue and risk relating to current and potential new markets
  • Baseline current status of GoO monetisation across portfolio and monitor current and future positioning
  • Review and maximise ancillary service revenue, grid balancing & capacity markets etc.

·       Master Power Bi and excel.

Relevant experience: 

Essential

·       2+ years of experience in renewables/ power markets

·       Extended Experience in Power BI

Education and qualifications:

Essential

·       Degree Qualified – Background in mathematics, economics, engineering or similar

Software Programmes

Essential

·       Data Visualization/ analytics PowerBI, including DAX programming

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Power Point and Excel in particular
