Bret Shapot

Vice President, Engineering at Venture Global LNG

Bret Shapot has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Bret most recently worked at Venture Global LNG as the Vice President of Engineering and previously held the role of Engineering Manager at the same company. Prior to that, they worked at Canyon Midstream Partners as a Principal Engineer and later as a Senior Process Engineer. At Canyon Midstream, they were responsible for advising the management team on technical matters, managing plant expansion projects, and consulting on gas contracts.

Before joining Canyon Midstream, Bret worked at Apache Corporation in various roles. Bret served as a Production Engineer for fields in the North Permian Basin, where they were responsible for production planning and budgeting. Bret also worked as a Project Engineer for the Kitimat LNG Project, collaborating with the EPC Contractor to ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables. Bret's first position at Apache was as a Process Engineer for the Kitimat LNG Project, where they managed the development of the process design.

Bret's early career was at BP, where they worked as an Operations Engineer for the Crude Distillation and Utilities units. Bret also worked as a Relief Systems Engineer, focusing on relief system studies and compliance with process safety requirements. Throughout their career, Bret has demonstrated expertise in project management, process engineering, and technical advisory roles.

Bret Shapot attended the University of Notre Dame from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering. In 2014, they obtained a certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Currently, Bret is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at The University of Texas at Austin, with an expected completion date in 2022.
