Eugene Gutman

Scientist at Veranova

Eugene Gutman has a diverse work experience in the field of chemistry, spanning several roles and companies. Eugene started their career as a research technician at Biocoat in 2010, where they worked until April 2011. Eugene then moved on to Kelly Scientific Resources, where they served as a research technician from April 2011 to June 2012. In the same year, Eugene joined UC Irvine as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Van Vranken lab. In this role, they conducted research on palladium-catalyzed carbenylative cross-coupling reactions and developed deep learning computer systems for reaction prediction. Eugene'sresearch resulted in high-yielding synthesis of indane and tetralin ring systems, leading to the total synthesis of (\u00b1)-brazilin and a formal synthesis of (\u00b1)-podophyllotoxin. Eugene's work at UC Irvine lasted until June 2017.

After their time at UC Irvine, Eugene worked as an IRTA post-doctoral research fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH): Intramural Research Program (IRP) in the Rice lab from July 2017 to December 2018. Eugene then joined Adesis, Inc. as a Synthetic Chemist in December 2018. At Adesis, Inc., Eugene worked until August 2021, further honing their skills in synthetic chemistry.

In August 2021, Eugene began working at Johnson Matthey as a Scientist, working on undisclosed projects until June 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Scientist at Veranova, starting in June 2022.

Throughout their career, Eugene has gained extensive experience in various research and laboratory roles, demonstrating their expertise and dedication to the field of chemistry.

Eugene Gutman earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry from Penn State University, which they attended from 2006 to 2010. Following their undergraduate studies, Eugene pursued further education at UC Irvine, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Organic Chemistry from 2012 to 2017. There is no information available regarding their education before Penn State University or any additional degrees or fields of study pursued after completing their PhD.
