Miriam León Otegui

Head of Clinical Analysis and Curation at Veritas Intercontinental

Miriam León Otegui has worked in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology for over 15 years. Miriam is currently the Head of Clinical Analysis and Curation at Veritas Genetics Europe & Latam, a position they have held since 2018. From 2011 to 2018, they were a Bioquímica and Responsible in the Molecular Biology area at SYNLAB, where they specialized in the study of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson. Miriam also worked on the setup, management, and analysis of Roche Junior 454 and Illumina NextSeq 500 platforms, MLPA, and QF-PCR. From 2004 to 2009, they held two research positions at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where they studied signal pathways of purinergic receptors and their relevance to neurodegenerative diseases, as well as mechanisms of action of neuropeptides. In 2009, they were also an Associate Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt am Main.

Miriam León Otegui attended the Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 1999 to 2005, where they earned a Licenciatura in Bioquímica. Miriam returned to the Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 2007 to 2019, where they earned a Doctorado in Bioquímica y biología molecular.
