Mario Acosta-Velez serves as Vice President of Local Engagement, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Public Policy for the East Region at Verizon since December 2007, where responsibilities include the development and execution of impactful regional initiatives, particularly in education, digital inclusion, and community engagement. Prior to this role, Mario held positions such as Regional Director of External Affairs and State Government Affairs, expanding Verizon's CSR impact through significant philanthropic investments and leading advocacy campaigns. Mario's earlier experience includes serving as President of MAVC Strategic Consulting, focusing on diversity and community engagement, and as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia, teaching multicultural justice. Educational qualifications include a Senior Executives program from Harvard Kennedy School and multiple degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Puerto Rico and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

They also provide fixed wireless access (FWA) broadband through their wireless networks. Their wireline services are provided in nine states in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern U.S., as well as Washington D.C., over a 100% fiber-optic network through their Verizon Fios product portfolio and over a traditional copper-based network to customers who are not served by Fios. In 2021, the Consumer segment’s revenues were $95.3 billion, representing approximately 71% of Verizon’s consolidated revenues. Their Business segment provides wireless and wireline communications services and products, including data, video and conferencing services, corporate networking solutions, security and managed network services, local and long distance voice services and network access to deliver various Internet of Things (IoT) services and products. They also provide FWA broadband through our wireless networks. Verizon provides these products and services to businesses, government customers and wireless and wireline carriers across the U.S. and select products and services to customers around the world. In 2021, the Business segment's revenues were $31.0 billion, representing approximately 23% of Verizon’s consolidated revenues.
