Andrew Stein serves as the Chief Operating Officer at the Vermont Department of Taxes, with extensive experience in government accountability and economic analysis. Since November 2013, Andrew has held several key roles in Vermont state government, including Deputy State Auditor and Research Economist, where responsibilities encompassed managing budgets, policies, and evaluating the economic impacts of state policies. Andrew has also contributed to public education governance as the Director and Vice Chair of the Montpelier Roxbury Board of School Directors, and served on the Vermont Supreme Court Board of Bar Examiners. A former journalist, Andrew has provided analysis on political, economic, and health care issues for various media outlets and has a background in research, having been a Fulbright Research Fellow focusing on China's economic and environmental policies. Educational qualifications include a B.A. in International Studies from Kenyon College, along with studies in Mandarin Chinese and Chinese immersion.
