Shana Kane serves as the Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) Manager and Codes and Compliance Specialist at Vermont Gas Systems, Inc. since July 2016, focusing on regulatory certification programs and documentation for natural gas pipeline operations. Prior to this role, Shana worked at BP from 2000 to 2015, holding various positions including Document Management System Manager, Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) Program Manager, and Environmental Remediation Manager, where significant contributions included managing environmental compliance systems and overseeing multi-million dollar remediation projects. Shana began the career as an Environmental Consultant at EMCON from 1994 to 2000, providing regulatory support and environmental assessments. Shana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Environmental Science from Alaska Pacific University.

Vermont Gas Systems provides clean, affordable natural gas to over 50,000 families, businesses, and institutions in Chittenden and Franklin counties. Through energy efficiency and prevented emissions from heating oil and propane, the company’s customers annually avoid carbon emissions equivalent to almost 10% of the emissions of Vermont’s cars and trucks. And by almost completely replacing older pipe in its system, the company has eliminated significant amounts of methane leakage typical of older pipeline networks. Vermont’s natural gas is transported from Canada via the TransCanada Pipe Line and enters at Highgate, on the Vermont/Canada border.
