Matt Hong serves as President of USA Sports, the sports division of Versant. USA Sports is home to premium sporting events airing on USA Network and Golf Channel across the calendar year, including NASCAR, PGA TOUR, Premier League, WWE, WNBA, USGA, R&A, Pac-12, LPGA Tour, PGA of America, Atlantic 10 Basketball, and more. Golf Channel, the first single-sport cable network which was founded in 1995, delivers comprehensive live golf tournament, studio, and shoulder programming, and is the television home of the sport and industry in the United States.
Prior to joining USA Sports in June 2025, Hong was President & Chief Operating Officer of PlayOn! Sports, a leading high school media and technology company, after serving on the board of directors.
Hong was previously Chief Operating Officer of Turner Sports, now TNT Sports. During his 11 years at Turner, Hong led several milestones including the company's NCAA rights agreements, Turner’s partnership and properties with the NBA, the acquisition and oversight of Bleacher Report, and the acquisition of UEFA Champions League rights.
Hong joined Turner Sports after previous executive positions at Thomson and AOL. While at AOL, he architected and oversaw the company’s multi-billion dollar partnership with, and equity stake in, Google in 2002, and managed the Search business across the AOL portfolio of properties
Hong received a JD with honors from Harvard Law School and a BA in economics from NC State University, where he was the university co-valedictorian.
