Heather Gates

Heather Gates has extensive work experience in various industries. Heather currently serves as the Controller at Versus Systems, where they are responsible for managing financial transactions, reducing cash burn, and overseeing the quarterly close and annual audit process. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Finance at Loyola Law School, where they successfully eliminated a $9 million budget deficit over four years and managed the annual operating and capital budgets. Before that, they served as Chief Operating Officer at Bridal Brokerage/SkyBride, where they oversaw all aspects of operations and managed company finances. Heather also has experience as an MBA candidate at the Darden School of Business Administration and as an MBA intern at Paramount Pictures, where they reviewed distribution agreements and performed tasks related to compliance and revenue reporting. Additionally, they have a background in financial examination, having worked as a Financial Examiner at the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions. Heather started their career in the U.S. Coast Guard, where they held various roles, including Senior Watch Officer and Assistant Engineer Officer. Throughout their career, Heather has consistently demonstrated strong financial and operational leadership skills.

Heather Gates completed their education at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business from 2011 to 2013, where they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Prior to that, they attended the US Coast Guard Academy from 1998 to 2002, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Management.
