Marieke van Heugten

Marieke van Heugten is a highly experienced researcher with a strong background in psychology and cognitive neuroscience. Currently serving as a Senior Onderzoeker at Verwey-Jonker Instituut since 2024, Marieke has held significant roles including Senior Onderzoeker and Deelprogrammaleider at Koninklijke Kentalis from 2021 to 2023, and Senior Researcher at The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development from 2021 to 2022. Prior experience includes an Assistant Professor position at the University at Buffalo from 2015 to 2021, a Postdoctoral Researcher role at Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique from 2012 to 2015, and Graduate Student Researcher positions at the University of Toronto and UQAM. Marieke's academic credentials include a PhD in Psychology from the University of Toronto, an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience from Radboud University, and a BA in Dutch Language and Culture from Radboud University.
