Byron Harvison

Byron Harvison serves as the Director of Policy and Government Affairs at the American Alpine Club since December 2022 and previously held the position of Government Affairs Liaison. As General Counsel for the Veteran's Outdoor Advocacy Group since November 2019, Byron brings extensive legal experience from roles such as Utah State Staff Judge Advocate for the Utah National Guard and Staff Judge Advocate for the US Army, culminating a military career spanning over two decades. Additional experience includes freelance photography with MountainWorks Photography, and a previous role as a radio DJ for 1600AM KUSH. Byron holds a Doctor of Law degree from The University of Tulsa College of Law and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Sam Houston State University, complemented by advanced military education from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
