Gerlinde Wernig

Dr. Wernig is a pathologist whose research centers around the mechanisms of fibrosis and new treatments. As an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine, she supervises basic and clinical translational research performed by students, technicians and postdocs while providing patient care by attending the clinical hematology service in pathology and training and teaching residents and fellows to become hematopathologists. Dr. Wernig’s lab focuses on understanding the pathomechanisms of organ fibrosis with the goal to help identify new targets and develop novel immune therapies. Dr. Wernig holds her medical degree from Medical University of Vienna, Austria, she is quadruple board-certified, she trained in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology in Germany as well as in Pathology and Hematopathology at Stanford in addition to her postdoctoral trainings both at Harvard Medical School and Stanford.
