Pieter Maene is a PhD student at VIB, focusing on the laboratory for tumor microenvironment and therapeutic resistance since September 2023. Previously, Pieter worked as a research assistant at KU Leuven Faculty of Medicine, where a master's thesis was conducted in the Laboratory for RNA cancer biology from September 2022 to July 2023. Additional experience includes internships in various research settings, including the Rega Institute for Medical Research, the Laboratory of Multi-omic Integrative Bioinformatics, and Dr. Elena Levtchenko's lab, along with a role as a Covid analyst at Eurofins. Pieter's technical background includes a laboratory technician position specializing in CRISPR-Cas9 mutagenesis and gene silencing in zebrafish. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven, a linking course in Biomedical Sciences, a Bachelor's degree in Biomedische laboratorium technologie from Odisee, and a FELASA B certification.
