Soni Chandrasekar

NPI Engineer at Victrex

Soni Chandrasekar has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. They started their career as a Research Assistant at the Life Science Centre in Manipal in 2003. From 2005 to 2009, they worked as a Lecturer at Manipal Institute of Technology, where they delivered lectures and facilitated classes on Bio Instrumentation, Biomaterials, and Rehabilitation Engineering.

They then pursued a PhD at Heriot-Watt University from 2009 to 2015, focusing on the development of a laser-based micro-welding method for the assembly of polymeric microfluidic devices for bioanalytical applications.

Moving into industry roles, Soni joined Sharp Life Science (EU) Limited in 2018 as a Microfluidic Engineer/Technologist. In this role, they developed processes for the assembly of the company's new microfluidic chip, conducted experiments to test device performance, and performed failure analysis to improve yield levels.

In 2020, Soni transitioned to LumiraDx as a Senior Product Development Engineer. In this role, they contributed to innovation, product development, and process improvement within the R&D Engineering group. They also supported assay development through device testing and optimization, and identified bottlenecks in manufacturing to optimize assembly processes.

Currently, Soni is working as an NPI Engineer at Victrex since 2023.

Soni Chandrasekar holds a PhD in Micro Engineering from Heriot-Watt University. Soni is currently pursuing an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management from Quantic School of Business and Technology, with an expected completion date in 2023.
