Matías Vázquez Restrepo

Matías Vázquez Restrepo is a Medical Doctor with extensive experience in community health and education. Currently serving at Vida Volunteer since May 2023, Matías provides free medical care in rural Costa Rican communities while educating American volunteers. Previously, Matías completed a year of social service at Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) in Tamarindo, addressing both clinical and social issues. Earlier internships included various medical fields such as internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, and community medicine at several hospitals under CCSS. Additionally, Matías held a leadership role in medical education with IFMSA, focusing on enhancing the training of Costa Rican medical students. Matías earned an MD from Universidad de Ciencias Médicas and a Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition from Universidad de Costa Rica.
