Daniel Chávez-Ontiveros

Daniel Chávez-Ontiveros is a Mexican documentary editor who lives and works in the California Bay Area. His credits include ‘499’ and ‘Sansón and me’ (both directed by Rodrigo Reyes). Currently, he’s editing Set Hernandez Rongkilyo’s first feature ‘unseen’ and ‘Sanctuary rising’ directed by Theo Rigby & Florencia Krochink. He’s interested in working on projects that explore the themes of immigration, social justice, and Latin American representation. Daniel has just been selected as a 2022 Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellow and as a member of the DOC NYC & HBO Documentary Films 40 Under 40 list. He has also received fellowships from Mexican institutions such as FONCA/CONACYT and the Jumex Foundation. He has also directed several short films, the most distinguished one, ‘The swan’, which was honored with the Youth Vision Award at the United Nations Associations Film Festival (UNAFF 2017) and the Audience Award in the Program of Sexual Diversity at the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM 2016). He and his partner, Eréndira Olivera, run Think Films, a production company that creates branded content documentaries for commercial and non-profit organizations such as Stanford Seed, TE Connectivity, Pearson PLC, and KDFC. Additionally, he’s one of the co-directors of Video Consortium México (VCMX).
