JOB FUNCTION
The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for IT systems administration, documentation, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting. With imperative uptime requirements, our Senior Systems Engineer will maintain overall systems health in a 24/7 environment and carry out tasks based on business objectives and strategy. The candidate is expected to be a self-starter who is effective at managing complex projects, using automation to realize efficiencies in recurring processes and providing thought leadership on new systems that can add value to the business.  Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ownership of on-prem and cloud-based directory services including Conditional Access Policies, Enterprise Applications with Single Sign-On and Self-Service Password Reset in Entra ID as well as Group Policy Management, Sites and Services in Active Directory and Intune endpoint management.
  • Ownership of Office 365 services including Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online and others.
  • Administration and management of storage platforms including EMC Isilon object-based file storage systems and Cohesity / FlashBlade system for backups.
  • Coordination of and direct monthly patching/preventative maintenance of major IT systems’ components.
  • Familiarity with advanced authentication systems such as privileged access management via BeyondTrust Password Safe and passwordless authentication via Azure Entra ID is a plus.
  • Candidate must be able to coordinate and partner with developers, network / cybersecurity / database engineers in the execution of daily tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with competing deadlines.
  • Offer engineering assistance for resolving problems that have been escalated from the desktop support team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience with enterprise-level system engineering
  • Proficient understanding of routing and journaling in Exchange Online, along with problem-solving skills
  • Extensive experience with scripting, automation and tool-making (PowerShell / Ansible)
  • Experience in analyzing logs using Splunk and proficiency in auditing with Varonis software
  • Deep technical expertise and hands-on with Windows Server administration including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP & DFS and Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
  • Strong experience with VMWare virtualization technologies
  • Strong experience with Enterprise storage SAN and NAS, iSCSI solutions (Pure Storage / Flashblade, EMC Isilon a plus)
  • Strong experience with Disaster Recovery planning and implementation
  • Working knowledge of LAN, Routing, Switching, IP Networking, VPN technologies, VLANs, and Layer 2 / 3 protocols
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Linux server administration, Cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP) a plus
  • Experience in creating desktop images intended for deployment by the support team
