Mark Welty has a diverse work experience in the fields of counseling and education. Mark started as a clinical therapist and consultant at the Voyager Program in 2004, where they provided clinical oversight and facilitated intervention treatment groups. Mark later became the Director of the Tuscarawas-Carroll Alcohol and Addiction Program from 2008 to 2012.

In 2011, Mark founded their own counseling and consulting company, Welty Counseling and Consulting, LLC, where they served as the Executive Director. Mark also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Argosy University Online from 2007 to an unknown end date.

Mark has also been involved in teaching roles. Mark served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Malone University from 2009 to 2013. Mark also taught as an Adjunct Faculty at Capella University from 2010 to 2012 and Walden University from 2010 to 2012, both in the Graduate Program in Mental Health Counseling. In addition, Mark worked as an Adjunct Faculty member at Kent State University from 2015 to 2016, in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program, and at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology from 2014 to 2015, in Forensic Psychology.

Most recently, Mark has been working at The Village Network since 2012. Mark initially served as the Regional Director and later became the Director of Research and Innovation in November 2013. The end dates for their roles at The Village Network are unknown.

Mark Welty earned a high school diploma from Highland High School in Ohio in 1985. Mark then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Bowling Green State University from 1985 to 1989. Mark continued their education at The University of Akron from 1990 to 1993, where they obtained a Master's degree in Community Counseling. In 2000, they enrolled at Walden University and completed a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 2010. Additionally, Mark obtained several certifications, including Licensed Social Worker from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board in 2011, National Certified Counselor from the National Board of Certified Counselors, Inc. in 2010, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor from the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board in 1995.
