Karoly Szanto

Karoly Szanto has a diverse work experience in various engineering management and software development roles. Karoly started their career at Oc€ srl as an Intermediate Java Developer and later transitioned to a Tcl/Tk developer, responsible for the development and maintenance of an automated test case execution tool.

Karoly then worked as a Full Stack Software Engineer at PITlab, where they were the sole developer for the MONARCA project, a personal monitoring system for bipolar patients.

Karoly also worked at Noitso A/S as a C# and ASP.NET developer before joining 3Pillar Global Romania as a Senior Software Developer. At 3Pillar Global, they worked in various roles including Technical Lead, Technical Manager, and Senior Technical Manager, where they mentored and coached tech leads, contributed to architecture and quality standards, and managed roadmaps and release plans.

Karoly then joined Brickshare as a Lead Software Engineer, leading the development team and acting as a PM.

Prior to their current role, Karoly worked at Vivino, where they initially worked as an Engineering Manager, leading a team of full-stack engineers, setting goals, and promoting good engineering practices. Later, they became a Senior Engineering Manager, leading cross-team initiatives, driving component library development and migration to NextJS, and engaging in strategic planning. Notable achievements at Vivino include breaking away from a frontend monolith, creating a new checkout flow, and achieving 100% year-over-year growth in organic traffic.

Currently, Karoly holds the position of Senior Engineering Manager at Vio.com, where they lead the engineering team.

Karoly Szanto's education history begins with their high school education at the "Mihai Eminescu" National College in Oradea, Romania from 2000 to 2004. Karoly pursued a specialization in Mathematics-Informatics during this period.
