Michael Porter

Michael Porter has extensive experience in the field of information security. Michael is currently the Vice President of Information Security at VIQ Solutions since July 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Systems Security Manager at VIQ Solutions from July 2021 to June 2022.

Before joining VIQ Solutions, Michael worked at Woodward, Inc. as a Security Risk & Compliance Analyst from January 2019 to June 2021. During their tenure, they led the development of a cybersecurity risk management program and ensured compliance with emerging Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements. Michael also deployed and managed Microsoft 365 security policies.

Earlier in their career, Michael had roles at Crowe, Purdue University, PNC, Eli Lilly and Company, and Blockbuster. At Crowe, they served as the Manager of Cybersecurity Risk from August 2017 to January 2019, where they designed solutions to evaluate and communicate cybersecurity risks. Michael also held other positions within the organization, including Cybersecurity Senior Consultant and Information Security Consultant.

Michael Porter completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer and Information Technology with a concentration in Network Engineering Technology from Purdue University from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they received an Academic Honors Diploma from Mt. Vernon High School in 2009. In addition to their formal education, Michael has obtained several certifications including Risk Management for IT and Cybersecurity Managers and The Cybersecurity Threat Landscape from LinkedIn in April 2021, the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² in October 2020, Introduction to Windows Powershell 5.1 from Udemy in August 2019, Introduction to Neuroeconomics: How the Brain Makes Decisions from Coursera in September 2018, and Biohacking Your Brain's Health (Emory University) from Coursera in July 2018.
