David Bennett

Chairman at Virgin Care Limited

David Bennett became chairman of Virgin Care in October 2019, following a long and wide-ranging career in senior roles in the public and private sector. As a former Head of the Number 10 Policy Unit under Prime Minister Tony Blair, and several years as Chairman and Chief Executive of Monitor where he was responsible for the economic regulation of the health sector and for overseeing around two thirds of NHS trusts with a combined £46bn turnover, David has extensive knowledge of the Health and Social Care systems. Since leaving Monitor he has worked with a number of businesses that are seeking to help the NHS deliver better services to its users. In these and other roles David has gained significant hands on and board-level experience of building, re-structuring and running a variety of businesses.
