Pierre Chambion

VP, Engineering & Head, Technology at Virgin Hyperloop

Pierre oversees the design engineering functions for Virgin Hyperloop, including systems engineering, vehicle development, electromagnetic actuator development, control systems, power electronics, flight control systems, embedded software development and fleet management. Pierre will support the launch of the company’s new cargo product and hyperloop-as-a-service business model.  

Over the course of his career, Pierre has held multiple technical leadership positions in the aerospace industry where he steered the work of highly skilled professionals on complex, multi-disciplinary technical programs. Prior to joining Virgin Hyperloop, Pierre served as Vice President of Engineering at Safran, where he managed more than 400 engineers and was responsible for design, certification, configuration management, and industrialization of various OEM line-fit and retrofit wide and narrow-body aircraft interior programs.

He holds a BSE in Mechanical Engineering from ECAM Lyon, France, and a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Washington. Pierre is also an active Aircraft Maintenance Officer in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
