Job description

We're searching for an experienced tax specialist to join us on a fixed-term contract. As Head of Tax, you'll be providing support to the Director Tax & Treasury, ensuring that the Virgin Group meets its worldwide tax compliance obligations, an appropriate tax control framework is maintained, and that brand and reputational risk is managed with regards to tax. 

You could be Senior Tax Manager or Director within a top professional services firm or in-house in a large corporation or family office. Tell me more

  • Lead the tax audit process for Virgin Head Office companies.
  • Report on all UK Virgin Group tax compliance matters, as well as all overseas tax compliance (US, South Africa, Kenya, Switzerland, Mauritius, Spain, Morocco) matters.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax computations to HMRC.
  • Accountable for the preparation and submission of Country by Country reporting, BEPS, and Diverted profits tax reports to HMRC.
  • Guide on Virgin Group issues, including corporate interest restriction, transfer pricing, and loss reliefs, as well as international tax issues and transactions.
  • Accountable for review and submission of various US forms, and the review of financing structures, funding routes and approvals.
  • Lead on WHT and treaty issues and queries, as well as Transfer Pricing Review and recharges, and the impact of BEPS2.0.
  • Deal with FATCA/CRS forms for the Virgin Group.
  • Accountable for the coaching and development of team members.

What you’ll need

  • Extensive UK and international corporation tax experience.
  • Member of ICAEW Association of Chartered Accountants / Chartered Tax Advisor or equivalent.
  • The ability to influence and confidently interact with all business stakeholders, explaining technical and compliant positions to non-tax individuals.
  • The technical knowledge to sign-off on internal projects and submissions to HMRC.
  • The ability to analyse complex and diverse documents and make appropriate evaluations and recommendations.
  • The ability to engage and inspire your team, as well effectively prioritise workloads amidst conflicting deadlines and priorities.
  • Employment tax and VAT knowledge is desirable.
