Janene Gorham has been a dedicated professional in Virginia Beach City Public Schools since 1993, currently serving as Director of Professional Growth and Innovation. In this role, Janene leads the Center for Teacher Leadership, which focuses on developing innovative, research-based professional development programs designed by teachers for teachers. Prior to this position, Janene held roles such as Instructional Technology Coordinator, overseeing technology integration and support for elementary library media specialists, and Computer Resource Specialist. Janene began the career as a Fifth Grade Teacher. Janene earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Entrepreneurial Leadership from The Johns Hopkins University between 2013 and 2017, and holds a BA/MT in History and Elementary Education from the University of Virginia, obtained in 1993.
