Environmental Stewardship Program Manager at Virginia Department of Transportation

Martin Krebs serves as the Environmental Stewardship Program Manager at the Virginia Department of Transportation since July 2011, overseeing maintenance environmental stewardship programs, sound wall projects, and infrastructure assessments. Previously, Martin held the role of Safety Rest Area Program Manager, managing operations and facilities for 43 locations that cater to 36 million visitors annually. As a Transportation Management Fellow at AASHTO from April 2019 to March 2020, Martin was selected for this competitive appointment by the Virginia Secretary of Transportation. Earlier experience at VDOT included managing a $21 million operations budget as a Financial Manager, along with roles as a System Analyst and Procurement Task Manager. Martin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from George Mason University and furthered education at the University of Virginia from February 2021 to October 2023.
