Daniel Ornelas has extensive experience working in various roles within the healthcare and education sectors. Daniel started their career in 1998 as a Program Assistant at Rogue Community College. From there, they moved on to become a Computer Literacy Instructor at Southern Oregon University in 1999. In 2001, they joined Portland Community College as an ESL Teacher. Simultaneously, they started working as a Program Coordinator at Oregon Human Development Corporation. In 2008, they joined Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center and Foundation as a Dental Operations Manager, a role they served in until 2016. Since 2016, they have been working at the same organization as the Dental Program Manager.

Daniel Ornelas has a diverse education history with a focus on business administration, management, and process improvement. In 2004, they graduated from the Portland State University Leadership Fellows Program, conducted by the PSU Institute for Non-Profit Management. Daniel later obtained various certificates from Portland State University, including Business Management in 2018, Project Management in 2015-2016, and Business Analysis in 2019. Moreover, they pursued certifications in process improvement and Six Sigma methodology, completing the Certified Green Belt of Six Sigma Methodology from SixSigma.us in 2021 and the Black Belt of Six Sigma Methodology from SixSigma.us in the same year. In 2022, they obtained a Certification in Professional Assault Crisis Training from ProACT.

Currently, Daniel is enrolled at Pacific University, pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Business Administration and Management. Daniel will complete this program in 2023. Additionally, they have acquired several certifications related to business architecture, including Building a Business Architecture, Business Architecture 101, and Launching Your Business Architecture Practice, all obtained from Canvas Credentials (Badgr) in April 2023. Daniel has also completed courses in business process management and process measurement and metrics, obtaining certifications from Badgr (now part of Instructure) in 2022.

Prior to their academic pursuits, Daniel had some experience at the Universidad de Guadalajara, where they studied at the School of Dentistry and also obtained a degree as a Teacher of English as a Second Language.
