Ernest Edgar

Ernest Edgar currently serves as a Member of the Board of Visitors at the Virginia Military Institute, appointed by the Governor of Virginia. Previously, Edgar was the Senior Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel for AtkinsRéalis, overseeing legal matters for the Americas Region. Edgar has held leadership roles at VMI Research Laboratories, Inc., serving as Chairman of the Board and member of the Board of Directors, and has experience as Deputy General Counsel at The PBSJ Corporation and Assistant General Counsel at General Dynamics AIS. Legal expertise was also developed during positions as an attorney at Dickstein Shapiro LLP and Spriggs & Hollingsworth. Edgar began a career in the U.S. Army as an Engineer Officer. Educational credentials include a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, participation in the Atkins Group Executive Leadership Program at the University of Oxford, and a BS in Civil Engineering with Distinction from the Virginia Military Institute.
