Derek Gwinn

Derek Gwinn currently serves as the Executive Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at Virginia Tech Athletics, a position held since February 2021, following roles including Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. In this capacity, Gwinn oversees all compliance office operations and supports the softball and track & field programs, ensuring adherence to NCAA, ACC, and University regulations. Prior experience includes serving as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Assistant Athletics Director at Virginia Tech from March 2013 to February 2021, as well as Associate Athletic Director at Marshall University and Compliance Coordinator at Ohio University. Gwinn holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and a Bachelor's degree from Marshall University.
