Emily Lanier, Ph.D., currently serves as a Licensing Officer at Virginia Tech Innovation and Partnerships, focusing on patenting, licensing, and commercializing the university's intellectual property. Previously, Emily was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow at Michigan State University, where a Ph.D. in Plant Biochemistry and Molecular Biology was earned. Additional experience includes roles as an Innovation Consulting Intern at RTI International, a Commercialization & Intellectual Property Intern at the MSU Innovation Center, and Manager of Technical & Operations at SynShark LLC, a biotech startup. Emily's educational background also includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina Asheville and a Micro-MBA from the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego.
