Michael Swink, CFA, CPA has a diverse work experience in the finance industry. Michael started their career as a Senior Investment Analyst at Virginia529 in 2009 and worked there until 2013. In this role, they analyzed and evaluated financial data and prepared reports for management and board members.

Michael then moved on to become a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant at Virginia529 from 2013 to 2016. In this role, they partnered with management to assess financial and operational reporting needs and prepared internal and external financial reports.

From 2016 to 2018, Michael served as the Manager of Investments and Financial Reporting at Virginia529. Here, they managed financial reporting and investment operations functions and supervised staff in the development of annual financial statements.

Following this role, they became the Investment Operations Manager at Virginia529 from 2018 to 2021. In this role, they oversaw investment operations and ensured smooth functioning of the department.

Michael then took on the role of Acting Investment Director at Virginia529 from 2021 to 2022. Here, they led the investment division, developed investment strategies, and provided recommendations to the Investment Advisory Committee.

Currently, Michael is working as an Investment Director at Virginia529, starting in June 2022. In this role, they are responsible for leading the investment division and coordinating all investment program-related activities.

Michael Swink, CFA, CPA, obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in International Business, Finance, and German from the College of Charleston in the year 2007. Following this, they pursued a Master of Accountancy degree with a focus on Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, completing it in 2009. In 2011, Michael obtained their CPA certification from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Michael furthered their professional qualifications by acquiring the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) certification from AICPA & CIMA in July 2014. Additionally, Michael is currently pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification from the CFA Institute.
