Liya Elsa J. has a diverse work experience. Liya Elsa began their career in 2006 as a Project Trainee at Avesthagen, where they studied Insulin mimicking and insulin sensitivity in different herbal extracts on mammalian cell lines. In the same year, they became a Junior Research Fellow at Avesthagen, where they were involved in design and execution of Cell line development part of a comprehensive research program aimed at the indigenous development of biologics/biosimilars. In 2009, they became a Junior Scientist at VIB, where they studied synaptic defects/defects in neuronal communication in fruit fly models of ALS. Finally, in 2018, they became a Senior Scientist and Researcher at ViroVet, where they are developing novel and innovative vaccines using a unique technology platform.
Liya Elsa J. began their educational journey in 2004, when they earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Biotechnology from the Amrita Centre for Biotechnology. Liya Elsa then went on to pursue a Research Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences, General from KU Leuven, which they completed in 2013.
