Dolly Kao has extensive work experience in the field of intellectual property law. Dolly is currently a Shareholder at the Dolly Kao Professional Corporation (Kao IP) and also holds the position of Chief IP Counsel at Virox Technologies Inc. and Cardiol Therapeutics Inc. In the past, they co-founded and acted as Counsel at Perry + Currier Inc./Currier + Kao LLP. Additionally, they have worked as an Associate at various law firms including Ridout & Maybee LLP, Torys LLP, Barrigar & Moss, and Rogers & Scott.
Dolly Kao pursued their education at the University of Toronto, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences from 1987 to 1991. Dolly then pursued further education at the same institution and completed a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from 1991 to 1994. Additionally, they obtained several certifications, including being a Registered Trademark Agent and a Registered Patent Agent from CPATA/CIPO in 1999 and 1998 respectively. Furthermore, they became a Barrister and Solicitor, being called to the Bar of Ontario in 1996 by the Law Society of Ontario.
