Bill Jacobsen has had a long and varied career in the biotechnology industry. Bill began their career in 1983 at Integrated Genetics, where they worked in Process Development and invented a device that allowed for continuous mammalian cell culture from bench top to 2000L bioreactor scale. In 1989, they moved to Genzyme Corporation as a Sr. Manager Cell Culture, where they supervised the production and validation of Genzyme's first recombinant therapeutic product approved by the FDA. In 1998, they became the Director of Operations at Marathon. In 2000, they took on the role of Director of Manufacturing at TKT, where they were responsible for the startup, staffing, commissioning, and operation of the Alewife production site. In 2004, they moved to EMD Serono as the Site Director, where they managed and led all operational aspects of a $17M annual budget related to the development and production of clinical candidates. In 2009, they became the Vice President of Operations at Neurotech USA, Inc., where they led all Neurotech operational aspects related to manufacturing development and production. In 2010, they took on a role as an Independent Consultant at JCS Biotechnology Consulting, where they led a $20M capital expansion project. In 2013, they became an Independent Consultant at Virtue Labs, where they provided operations consulting for a consumer products company. Bill also became the Head of Operations at Virtue Labs LLC that same year.
Bill Jacobsen attended Taconic Hills High School from 1974 to 1978, where they earned a Regents High School Diploma. Bill then attended the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh from 1978 to 1982, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in In-Vitro Cell Biology.
